Those numbers are continually increasing, with 332 new locations added in the last 30 days (correct Oct 2017) with many providers offering online interactive maps and apps to find nearest charge points, tariff information and charging types.
CHARGE POINT TYPES - There are four main EV charging types:
Slow (up to 3kW) which is best suited for 6-8 hours overnight;
Fast (7-22kW) which can fully recharge some models in 3-4 hours; and
Rapid AC and DC (43-50kW) which are able to provide an 80% charge in around 30 minutes. They are typically installed at motorway service stations for quick charging on longer distance journeys.
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
Time to charge an electric car can take as little as 30 minutes or up to 12 hours. Although not all electric cars are capable of charging up that quickly. The time it takes to charge depends on a couple of factors: the size of the battery and the speed of the charging point.
